WOMEN'S FRONTAL LOBE ALOPECIA. a new non surgical hair restoration challenge.

In the past 43 years as a hair restoration professional, I have helped many women experiencing all types of hair loss.

The last few decades, the typical women hair loss we saw in our studio ranged from alopecia Totalis, ( total hair loss) female pattern baldness ( thinning/ diffused hair density throughout the scalp) , male pattern baldness in women ( hair loss on top of the scalp with normal hair density all around).

Women frontal lobe Alopecia hair loss , medically called (FRONTAL FIBROSIS alopecia).

Frontal fibrosis alopecia describes hair loss and scarring in te frontal region of the scalp.

WHAT ARE ITS FEATURES ? :

Frontal fibrosis alopecia usually affects post menopausal women over the age of 50.

It is characterised by usually a symmetrical band of hair loss on the front and sides of the scalp,and loss of eyebrows.

The skin in the affected area usually looks normal but usually very pale shiny or mildly scarred.

Some women with frontal fibrosis alopecia also experience female pattern hair loss.

Using our Trichoscopy procedure, the results are able to show absent follicles, white dots, tubular perifollicular scale and perifollicular erythema.

WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF FRONTAL LOBE ALOPECIA?:

The exact cause of frontal lobe hair loss is unknown . The unset of menopause suggests there may be a hormonal component.
